EDITING YOUR E-BOOK FILE


Copying or Moving Objects


1. Select one or several digital ink strokes, lines or text boxes.


2. Do one of the following:


To move the selected objects, click the Cut button on the Standard toolbar.


To copy the selected objects, click the Copy button on the Standard toolbar.

 

3. Do one of the following:

If you want to copy or move the selected objects to another page in this or another e-Book file, switch to the page. Click the Paste button on the Standard toolbar. The Selection box will be around the pasted objects. You can move the pasted objects to a new location.

 

If you want to copy or move the selected objects to the same page, click the Paste button on the Standard toolbar. The Selection box will be around the pasted objects. You can move the pasted objects to
a new location.

 

If you want to copy or move the selected objects to another file for other programs such as Outlook e-mail message, Word file or Excel file, switch to the file. Click the Paste command in the program.

 

 

Changing the Color and Width of Objects


1. Select one or several digital ink strokes or lines.


2. Click a color button on the Color toolbar to switch the color of the selected objects. Click a width button on the Width toolbar to change the width of the selected objects.


Note! By selecting a text box, you can not change the color of text in the text box. By editing a text box, you can click a color button to change the color of the selected text or click the Font button to change the font of the selected text.

 

 

Adding a New Page


Click the Add Page button on the Standard toolbar. A new page will appear at the end of this book file.

 

 

Setting the Default New Page Size


The Default New Page Size is for the new page which you add in the e-Book file. It does not matter with the page size of the digital page which you import to the e-Book file.


To set it, click Page Setup on the File menu. The Default New Page Size dialog box will appear. We recommend that you select the option button in accordance with your DigiMemo model.

 

 

 

 

Moving the Current Page


1. On the Page menu, click Move to. The Move to dialog box will appear.


2. In the dialog box, type the page number (such as 5) which you want to move the current page to.


3. Click OK. The current page will then be moved to the page you designated previously.

 

 

Removing the Current Page


Click the Remove Page button . A dialog box will appear. Click Yes. The current page and all its contents will be removed.

 

 

 

Showing the Background of Pages


1. On the Edit menu, click Option. A dialog box will appear.


2. Choose or clear the following check boxes to show the background on:


 Current page

 Page thumbnails

 

3. If necessary, select the following one option button:


Default background (Lines)
Import image as background
Click the Browse button to find the image file such as BMP, JPG, GIF, or PNG file which you want to be the background.


4. Choose or clear the Print background when printing check box.


5. Click OK.

 

 

Saving Your Handwritten Notes as a PDF File


1. Click the Save as a PDF File button on the Standard toolbar.


2. In the dialog box, select the following one option button:


Current Page


In this option, you can choose the Selected area only check box.


 All Pages


 Select Pages


You can select several pages by using CTRL or SHIFT key with mouse click.


3. Click Next. In the dialog box, enter a name for the PDF file. Click Save. The selected pages or area will be saved as the PDF file.

 

 

 

Saving the Current Page as an Image File


You can save the current page as an image file whose file types can be TIF, JPG, BMP, GIF or PNG.


1. Click the Save as Image button on the Standard toolbar.


2. In the dialog box, select a file type and enter a file name. Click Save.

ON-LINE WRITING YOUR NOTES

 

 

When the digital pad is connected to your computer through a USB port, you can use the On-line Writing function in the DigiMemo Manager software. By using the digital pen on the pad, the On-line Writing function can instantly synchronize your writing on the vertical paper with the current page in the software window. For example, your writing on the paper in the lower-left corner of the vertical pad instantly appears in the lower-left corner of the current page in the software window.


Note! Before you write or draw by using the On-line Writing function, we recommend that you already switch to the right paper page on the pad and switch the right current page in the software window.


To use the On-line Writing function, execute the following steps:


1. Make sure that the digital pad is connected to your computer through a USB port. The Connection icon appears on the display of the pad.


Note! If your Windows is Vista, you must execute once the following steps to activate the On-line Writing function for the USB port which the digital pad is connected to.


A. Open the folder where the DigiMemo Manager software is installed. The default folder in C:\Program Files\ACECAD\ACECAD DigiMemo Manager. (For Windows 7 64Bit, The default folder in C:\Program Files (x86) \ACECAD\ACECAD DigiMemo Manager.)


B. Right-click the DigiMemo Manager icon, and then click Run as administrator. Now the On-line Writing function in activated for this USB port. Please notice that you need to execute this procedure if the digital pad is connected to the other USB port.

 

2. On the Tools toolbar in the software window, click the On-line Writing button to activate the function.


Note! When you activate the On-line Writing function, the tablet device function in Windows of the horizontal pad will be closed (Please refer to the section Tablet Device in Windows). You can not use the digital pen on the horizontal pad to move the mouse pointer on the screen. When you move the digital pen on the vertical pad, the On-line Writing cursor moves only inside the current page in the software window.


Note! The zoom setting for the current page will be automatically changed to 100%. You can not change the zoom setting.


Note! By using your mouse, you still can use the other functions such as Eraser in the software window.


3. You can switch the color by clicking a color button on the Color toolbar by using your mouse. You can change the width by clicking a width button on the Width toolbar by using your mouse.


4. By using the digital pen on the vertical pad, your writing or drawing on the paper instantly appears on the corresponding position of the current page in the software window. For example, your writing on the paper in the lower-left corner of the vertical pad instantly appears in the lower-left corner of the current page in the software window.


Note! When you write or draw, the software automatically adjust the current page position in the active software window so that your writing or drawing can be instantly visible in the active software window.


Note! You can switch both the paper page on the pad and the current page in the software window.


Note! Even though the software window is not active, the activated On-line Writing function still is available.


Note! If you close or minimize the software window in which the On-line Writing function is activated, the On-line Writing function will be closed.


Note! Your writing or drawing will not be stored in any digital page file in the storage device of the pad.


5. To close the On-line Writing function, click the On-line Writing button on the Tools toolbar in the software window.
Note! When the On-line Writing function is closed, the tablet device function in Windows of the horizontal pad will be activated. You can use the digital pen on the horizontal pad to move the mouse pointer on the screen. Please refer to the chapter — Tablet Device in Windows.

 

 

Causes of the On-line Writing Function Disabled or Closed

 

 To use the On-line Writing function, please verify the followings, or the On-line Writing function will be disabled or closed:


1.  The page size of the current page in the software window must be in accordance with your DigiMemo model.


2. The page size in accordance with the DigiMemo Model is shown below.

Note! The page size of the current page is shown in the lower-right corner of the software window.


Note! The page size of a digital page which you import is in accordance with the DigiMemo model which created it.


Note! The page size of a new page which you add in the e-Book file is according to the Default New Page Size setting. If it is necessary to change the setting, please refer to the section — Setting the Default New Page Size.


3.  If the On-line Writing function already be activated in one software window, it will be disabled in other software windows.


4. Make sure that the digital pad is connected to your computer through a USB port. The Connection icon appears on the display of the pad.


5. The DigiMemo L2 or A402 supports and can use the On-line Writing function. Some DigiMemo models such as 692, A501 or A502 do not support and can not use the On-line Writing function.

 

 

 

SENDING YOUR E-BOOK FILE IN E-MAIL

 

You can use one of the following methods to send your e-Book file in e-mail:


1. In the software window of DigiMemo Manager, you can copy or move several pages or just part of a page in your e-Book file to your Outlook e-mail message.


Note! You can not use this copy or move technique in an Outlook Express e-mail message.


2. In an e-mail message, insert your e-Book file as an attachment.


Note! To view and edit your e-Book file, the recipient must have the DigiMemo Manager software. If he or she does not have this software, please download it on the ACECAD website.

3. Open your e-Book file in the DigiMemo Manager software. Click the E-mail button on the Standard toolbar. In the dialog box, select the Attach your e-Book file option. Click OK. Your e-Book file will be attached to a new e-mail message.


4. Open your e-Book file in the DigiMemo Manager software. Click the E-mail button on the Standard toolbar. In the dialog box, select the Attach images option. Click OK. Every page of your e-Book file will be saved as a JPG image file and be attached to a new e-mail message.

 

 

 

CONVERTING YOUR HANDWRITTEN NOTES IN YOUR E-BOOK FILE

 

 

1. If you have installed the optional DigiMemo Handwriting Recognition software, click the Conversion button on the Standard toolbar in the software window of DigiMemo Manager.


2. In the dialog box, select the following one option button:


 Current Page


In this option, you can choose the Selected area only check box.


 All Pages


 Select Pages


You can select several pages by using CTRL or SHIFT key with mouse click.

 


3. Click Next. The selected pages or area will be imported into the DigiMemo Handwriting Recognition software.

 

 

 

 

SENDING YOUR HANDWRITTEN NOTES TO MICROSOFT OFFICE ONENOTE

 
If you have installed Microsoft Office OneNote software, you can send your handwritten notes to OneNote, which can be convertible to digital text, organized and searchable in OneNote. There are three ways in the following sections to send to OneNote.


Sending to OneNote from the DigiMemo Manager Software


1. Click the Send to OneNote button on the Standard toolbar in the software window of DigiMemo Manager.


2. In the dialog box, select the following one option button:


 Current Page

In this option, you can choose the Selected area only check box.

 All Pages

 Select Pages

You can select several pages by using CTRL or SHIFT key with mouse click.

 


3. Click Next. The Send to OneNote Properties dialog box will appear. Select the following options you want.


*You can choose the Send to Unfiled Notes Section check box to send your handwritten notes to the default Unfiled Notes section in OneNote. For OneNote 2003, the Send to Unfiled Notes Section check box is disabled.


*When the Send to Unfiled Notes Section check box is cleared or disabled, you can select the Section under an existing Notebook in OneNote which you want to send your handwritten notes in.

*Under Send as option, select Handwriting Ink (or Drawing Ink for OneNote 2003) or Image option which your handwritten notes will be sent in OneNote as. The Handwriting Ink can be converted into typewritten text in OneNote according to handwriting recognition specification of your operating system. The Drawing Ink can be converted to Handwriting Ink in OneNote.


*Choose or clear the Send with page background check box.


*If necessary, type a name in the Page Title text box for every page which you send in OneNote. Choose or clear the Contain page number in page title check box. If you choose it, you can type or select the starting number in the Start at text box. You can review the page title in the Example box.


*Choose or clear Navigate to OneNote check box.


4. Click Finish to start to send to OneNote. When finished, the dialog box will appear and show Pages have been sent to OneNote successfully. Click OK.


Note! When the Send to Unfiled Notes Section check box is cleared or disabled, you must select a Section in OneNote or the Finish button will be disabled.

 

 

 

Using Send DHW to OneNote Icon on the Windows Desktop

 

1. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Send DHW to OneNote icon.

 


Note! If you do not install OneNote in your Windows, the dialog box will appear and show that No Office OneNote in your Windows.


2. The Select Digital Page dialog box will appear. Click Browse to select a folder from which you want to send your digital pages (DHW files) to OneNote. Such folder could possibly be the DMEMO-M, the DMEMO-S, the DMEMO-C or any folder that contains digital pages.


3. You can select several digital pages by using CTRL or SHIFT key with mouse click.


4. Choose or clear the Delete DHW file after sending to OneNote check box.

Note! Such deletion can not be recovered.

 

 


5. Click Next. The Send to OneNote Properties dialog box will appear. Select the options you want. Then click Finish to send your handwritten notes to OneNote.

 

 

Changing the Default Program to OneNote for Digital Page File (DHW)

 

 

The original default program to open digital page file (DHW) is DigiMemo Manager software. If you have installed OneNote software, you can change the default program to OneNote to open digital page file (DHW).


To change the default program for digital page file (DHW), click DHW Default Program on the File menu in the software window of DigiMemo Manager. Select the following one option button and then click OK:


 1. Open DHW by ACECAD DigiMemo Manager.


 2. Open DHW by Microsoft Office OneNote.


In this option, you can choose or clear the Delete DHW file after sending to OneNote check box.


Note! Such deletion can not be recovered.


After you select the option Open DHW by Microsoft Office OneNote, when you double-click a digital page file (DHW), the digital page will immediately be sent to Unfiled Notes section as Handwriting Ink with untitled page title in OneNote for OneNote 2007.

 

Note! For OneNote 2003, when you double-click a digital page file (DHW), the Send to OneNote Properties dialog box will appear. Select the options you want. Then click Finish to send the digital page to OneNote.

 

 

 

 

USING ANOTHER OPTIONAL CARD READER

 

 
If you have another optional card reader for SD memory card, you can organize your digital page or other computer files in the optional SD memory card through this card reader.

 

 

EASILY MANAGING DIGITAL PAGE FILES

 

When connecting the digital pad to your computer, the removable storage device, such as the built-in 32 MB storage device or the optional memory card of the pad, is accessed to your computer. The following procedures can be easily executed in your Windows.


1. Delete the digital page files in the built-in 32 MB storage device or the optional memory card of the digital pad.
Here is a brief recommendation: you may want to tear off the paper page or simply cross out the page number you wrote on the paper page.


Note! Once a digital page file is deleted in a removable storage device (the built-in 32 MB storage device or the optional memory card), it can not be recovered.


Note! You can not delete files in memory card when the write-protect switch of the memory card is set to LOCK.


2. You can copy or move the digital page files in the built-in 32 MB storage device or the optional memory card to your hard disk drive. You also can rename the digital page files in your hard disk drive.


Note! Do not rename the digital page files in the folder DMEMO-M of the built-in 32 MB storage device or the folder DMEMO-S of the optional memory card. Otherwise the digital pad can not manage the renamed digital pages.

 

 

Deleting the Digital Pages in the DigiMemo Manager

1. In the software window of DigiMemo Manager, click the Digital Page button on the Standard toolbar. The Digital Page dialog box will appear.

2. Select the Delete digital pages option button. Click Browse to select a folder in which you want to delete your digital pages. Such folder could possibly be the DMEMO-M, the DMEMO-S, the DMEMO-C or any folder that contains digital pages.

 


3. Click OK. The Delete Digital Pages dialog box will appear.

 


4. To select nonadjacent digital pages, click one digital page, and then hold down the CTRL key and click each additional digital page.


To select adjacent digital pages, click the first digital page in the sequence, and then hold down the SHIFT key and click the last digital page.


To preview a digital page, select the digital page and click Preview.


5. Click OK. The digital pages you select will be deleted.
